Prior to joining Geosystems, Dr. Bruce
acted as Co-Principal Investigator in the Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA) sponsored project “Drilled
and Grouted Micropiles – The State of the Practice.” Completed
in 1997, this 4-volume set constituted the state of practice of high
capacity micropiles, and involved the creation of an
international
peer
review board – experts from around the world – who later
became the core of the International Workshop on Micropiles.
From 1997 onwards, research has been conducted on a similar state
of practice study dealing with deep mixing. The output has been:

is ongoing.
Dr. Bruce is also a member of the teaching faculty for Demonstration
Project No. 116 Ground Improvement Methods, whereby the Short Course
is presented to each of the State DOT’s.
Dr. Bruce has also been involved in the development
of National Highway Institute courses on Ground Improvement Technologies
and Design and Construction of Micropiles. |
