The various large concrete dams on the
Lower Colorado River north of Austin, TX are undergoing a major phase
of remediation, involving
rock anchors. Geosystems is employed by Freese & Nichols, the Lower
Colorado River Authority’s consultants, to provide specialist input
into various aspects of the anchoring on four of the projects. The scope has included:
- Review of design and draft Specifications.
- Observation of anchor installation.
- Input into “forensic” analysis program relating
to suspect materials.
- Participation in key “consultant team” meetings.
- Design
of test anchor program and observation of execution.
- Organization of technology transfer symposium on various remedial
options.
